1/4 ozdemerara syrup
2 dashesAngostura bitters
1 dashorange bitters
✦orange peel
Demerara instead of simple syrup is the quiet upgrade — richer, almost molasses.
Build
- Smoke a rocks glass: invert it over billowing cherry or applewood smoke for 20–30 seconds, flip just before building.
- Stir syrup, both bitters, and bourbon with ice, 20–25 seconds.
- Strain over one large cube in the smoked glass.
- Express the orange peel over the surface, run it around the rim, drop in.
