2 ozbourbon (100-proof shines here)
1/4 ozdemerara syrup
2 dashesAngostura bitters
1 dashorange bitters
orange peel

Demerara instead of simple syrup is the quiet upgrade — richer, almost molasses.

Build

  1. Smoke a rocks glass: invert it over billowing cherry or applewood smoke for 20–30 seconds, flip just before building.
  2. Stir syrup, both bitters, and bourbon with ice, 20–25 seconds.
  3. Strain over one large cube in the smoked glass.
  4. Express the orange peel over the surface, run it around the rim, drop in.
